Course Description: SMRT: Shoulder, Axilla, Ribcage, & Upper Back live class or video course will help you to work the entire shoulder girdle. You will learn to successfully work with:

  • Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
  • Kyphosis
  • Rotator Cuff Tears, both before and after surgery
  • Axillary Lymph Node Dissection and associated Lymphedema
  • Thoracic Degenerative Disc Disease and Thoracic Spondylosis
  • Tendinitis and Bursitis of the Shoulder
  • Adhesive Capsulitis (frozen shoulder)
  • And much more

SMRT is a positional release modality that interrupts pain signals in the body, painlessly resolves trigger points, has an incredibly calming effect on the nervous system, and is highly stimulating to the lymphatic system. By working with all tissues in any given area, SMRT easily and quickly allows the tissues to balance and the joints to realign effortlessly, re-establishing correct posture. Benefits of SMRT include:

  • natural realignment of joints by directly releasing specific ligaments and joint structures
  • pain free resolution of trigger points
  • swift and painless removal of adhesions
  • disruption of the positive feedback loops of pain in the nervous system
  • considerable stimulation of the lymphatic system

All of this is done quickly, with almost no pain to the client, and in a way that is tremendously easy on your body. Because we have disrupted the pain loops, settled the parasympathetic nervous system, created almost no additional pain, and brought the area back to homeostasis, the results of an SMRT treatment last. Join us for a hands-on class or study by video and learn to unlock all structures in the shoulder, axilla, ribcage, and upper back.

Live seminar is NCBTMB approved (this means it is approved in all states that accept NCBTMB approved courses, which is most states), as well as NY sponsored and AR approved, for 24 CE’s.
Video course is NCBTMB approved, as well as NY sponsored, for 8 CE’s. Check your state regulations to see how many CE’s you can receive for technique classes done by home study.

What People are Saying About this Course

Evaluation Comments from Shoulder, Axilla, Ribcage & Upper Back Course in Rochester, MN April 25-27, 2014

Participants share what they liked best about the Shoulder, Axilla, Ribcage & Upper Back Class:

  • It was hands-on
  • I like that the instructor explained it (technique) for every kid or type of massage people do.  I liked how it was explained and then she showed us, and then we did it.
  • SMRT technique is “new” to me.  Something I can incorporate into what I’m already doing, that I have not been introduced to before.
  • Learning the concepts, understanding how it works  and can be easily integrated with other modalities.  The writings are understandable.  Thank you.  Patti and Kris are great assets to the program.
  • Information and techniques were great and will be used in my practice.  Look forward to the next session and classes.
  • Meeting so many therapists with different modalities and different technique ideas
  • Loved all of you ladies — so helpful, knowledgeable and loving.  Very fun experience 🙂
  • Demonstrations and taking the time to fully explain concept even if it had to be repeated three times
  • The way it is taught.  The through explanations and the explanations of how a condition affects the other muscles of the body.
  • Love the SMRT theory and will use it a lot.
  • The environment and variety of concepts and tools offered with both instructor & teaching assistants
  • The class size works well with learning SMRT techniques.  The close communication.  Having three people to help with techniques and form.
  • The work itself!  Only suggestion: include more supportive anatomy tools especially since the technique is so dependent on it.
